Spousal Support / Alimony
Spousal support is not automatically granted with a divorce; the need for support must be established before a judge can order it. The amount of support varies depending on things like whether you are still married and who makes how much of the family income.
Child Support
Child support is scheduled in Louisiana. While other factors such as any special needs of the child can affect the basic child support obligation, child support is calculated by a table that takes into account the incomes of both parents.
Child Custody
A negotiated custody arrangement is always preferable to what a judge would decide. We advise both parties to work out all potential custody and visitation issues that work for them, while always keeping the best interests of the child at the forefront of the discussion. When an amicable resolution is not possible, however, our firm has the experience and knowledge to advocate for you.
